In loving memory ofArthur Oswald BRYAN
BRYAN - Arthur Oswald, 92, of Hartford, CT, beloved husband for 47 years of the late Mavis (Bedward) Bryan passed away peacefully on Monday, (October 8, 2012) in Windsor, CT. Born in Panama on April 10, 1920, son of the late Joseph and Matilda (Joggins) Bryan, he moved to Jamaica with his family at the age of two and had lived in Hartford, CT since 1995. Arthur worked as a carpenter for many years before starting his own taxi service in Jamaica. He enjoyed cooking, especially Caribbean food, fishing with his grandson, and taking walks on a nice day. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved telling them stories from his life and laughing at his own jokes and funny experiences. He leaves to mourn his passing, ten children, Viviette "Clair" Matthews of England, Lincoln "Ruddy" Matthews of England, Yvonne "Little" Brown of Austin, TX, Humphrey Bryan and his wife Theresa of Hartford, CT, Coleen "Sonia" Harriott and her husband Alvin, Jr. of Windsor, CT, Vivienne Bryan of Hartford, CT, Hyacinth "Carol" Bryan of Lauderhill, FL, Michelle Baker and her husband Raymond of Brooklyn, NY, Christopher "Pappy" Bryan and his wife Amy of Windsor, CT, and Chris Bryan of Jamaica. He also leaves behind a legacy of 71 grandchildren; 86 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by four sons, Clinton Matthews, Egbert Bryan, Michael Bryan, and Lincoln Bryan; two brothers, Joseph Bryan and Nathaniel Bryan; and three sisters, Ida Kerr, Louise Thomas, and Dorcas Addison. A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 20, 10 a.m., in the Chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial was in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
